Performance de Chloé Bressan Vidéo 3 de Pat H Mart(please unscroll for the English version)

Tout me conduit lĂ .
PRESS RELEASEThe plan of this exhibition is to bring together the Sculpture of Helga Natz and the Poetry of ChloĂ© Bressan. Helga Natz and ChloĂ© Bressan never met before this exhibition. At first sight, their two universes are very different : the writing search of ChloĂ© Bressan, both in her poetry and on stage with the live play of her text, seems to have nothing to share with Helga Natzâs aspiration to gather in one entity the material components and the âspiritual voyageâ that one finds in her sculptures. However, as I said to ChloĂ© Bressan âit appears to me you have in common an âintelligence of instinctâ and a courage, expressed each in in your respective arts, that could fruitfuly dialog together.â Their full dedication to their activity, as women who were able to resist prevailing social and cultural conventions in order to manage a necessary space for their art, is not the least part of this courage.
When Helga Natz was invited to participate in this show, she replied â The Clay Woman/La Femme d'argile gives me immediate inspiration, because the words are very rich in imagery.â Her participation will be made of fragments: a canvas, 3 drawings, a text and some photos, one of which is a small clay sculpture of a woman that was offered years ago to Helga Natz. What will appear at the show will be visual strands of a story that the viewer will be able to reconstitute for himself. The role of ChloĂ© Bressan's participation becomes clear: it will be the "tale of the origins" of this little clay woman, meaning the
Song of the Clay Woman.

Author of poems and plays, Chloé Bressan, born in 1980, follows an artistic search that went through contemporary dance (with Maroussia Vossen), ButÎ dance, writing and stage performance. In her new poem the Chant de la femme d'argile, she experiences the meeting point of text, voice and body.
She published in collaboration with Gilles Plazy a poetical dialogue La poésie, la tarte aux pommes et le topinambour de Saint-Augustin (La Part Commune, Rennes, 2011) and her poem Le Chant de la femme d'argile is released in November 2012 at the éditions Isabelle Sauvage ((Plounéour-Ménez, FinistÚre). She now lives in Auray (Morbihan), after several years spent in Paris.
âThe text of the Chant de la femme d'argile is a long poem in blank verses, written between April and August 2011, in Paris. A crucial time that urged the author to leave the Capital, a departure experienced as much like a painful and inevitable blind rush, as a brutal and escaping answer to a Call for air.â
The following moment is an unsure provision / sky-shivered / sticked on it
To tumble is not conceivable / to tumble / besides the language deletions / One might as well move forward, naked / in the derision that colored horizon
âThe Clay Woman is not me. One could fancy that she is a woman covered with clay, but it has more to do with flourishing. She is more ideal than real. She is not a character ; when I am on stage, I donât really interpret her. It is more a matter of incarnation. She is the mean I found to give a body to my words. Thus I can't say I play, or interpret. It is not theater nor dance. It is rather an apparition, I like this idea of apparitionâŠ.ââChloĂ© Bressan (from an Interview by Gilles Plazy.

www.helganatz.deâFor my sculptures the colour, material, weight, size, shape and the manufactoring itself are equally important. Dominated by the structural characteristics of the sculptures' raw materials the act of creation follows the idea of simplicity. As an reaction to the inner needs of the material, I get an imagination about a shape, about a colour. The ideal is, that the assembly of a certain colour, material, size will lead to only one possible combination for a sculpture. Approaching this ideal is the main objective. The sculpture itself neither exists with the intention to interpret nor is it ment to call attention to certain things.ââHelga Natz
â(âŠ) They [Helga Natzâs sculptures] update the old theme of shell and kernel, and transform it anew by having the kernel form and consolidate itself from out of and within the shell. What distinguishes these constructs is their absolute self-evidence, even though they hardly correspond to a familiar form. (...)ââManfred Schneckenburger
