Rosemarie Castoro a
marqué le parcours de ma galerie. En près de 25 ans Rosemarie Castoro a
exposé de nombreuses fois dans ma galerie : 7 expositions personnelles,
2 expositions en duo et 31 expositions collectives. J’ai rencontré
Rosemarie Castoro par l’intermédiaire de Carl Andre à l’occasion d’un
projet d’exposition d’artistes femmes. L’exposition telle quelle n’a pas
eu lieu mais ma rencontre avec Rosemarie Castoro a débuté une longue
collaboration. Rosemarie Castoro m'a montré par l'exemple ce que voulait
dire être une artiste et l’implication que cela représente dans une
vie. Son attitude par rapport à l’art en général et à son art en
particulier représentait une merveilleuse forme d’enseignement. Je suis
heureux de rendre hommage à Rosemarie Castoro à travers une sélection
d’œuvres qui ont été exposées au fil des ans dans ma galerie ou dans

Focus at Infinity sera la première grande exposition institutionnelle de l'œuvre de Castoro et se concentrera sur les années 1964-1979. Castoro (1939 – 2015) a établi sa carrière dans le contexte du Minimalisme et de l'Art Conceptuel aux États-Unis, circulant au cœur de l'avant garde à New-York. L'exposition montrera son travail en détail pour la première fois, révélant la diversité de sa pratique qui englobe peinture abstraite, art conceptuel, performance, poésie, mail art, sculpture, installation et land art. L'exposition explorera le contexte de son travail, son activisme - y compris son rôle dans l'Art Workers' Coalition, son association avec ses contemporains comme Carl Andre, Hollis Frampton, Sol LeWitt et Yvonne Rainer, entre autres, et sa relation avec le féminisme." ******
Homage to Rosemarie Castoro (1939 - 2015) November 02 - December 23, 2017 The Arnaud Lefebvre Gallery is pleased to present an homage to Rosemarie Castoro. Rosemarie Castoro marked the course of my gallery. In almost 25 years Rosemarie Castoro has exhibited many times at my gallery: 7 solo, 2 duet and 31 group shows. I met Rosemarie Castoro through Carl Andre about an exhibition of women artists. The show did not take place, but my meeting with Rosemarie Castoro began a long collaboration. Rosemarie Castoro exemplified what it means to be an artist and the implication it represents in life. Her attitude towards art was a wonderful form of knowledge. I am pleased to pay tribute to Rosemarie Castoro through a selection of works that have been shown over the years at my gallery or at other places. "Rosemarie Castoro. Focus at Infinity will be the first major institutional exhibition of Castoro’s work, and will concentrate on the years 1964–79. Castoro (1939–2015) established her career in the context of Minimalism and Conceptualism in the U.S., circulating at the heart of the avant-garde in New York. The exhibition will show her work in detail for the first time, revealing the diversity of her practice, which encompassed abstract painting, conceptual works, performative actions in the street and studio, poetry, mail art, sculpture, installation and land art.
